Chris Sloan – Principal

Mr. Sloan brings over 20 years of experience in corporate finance roles, with the last 14 years in the oil and gas industry. He began his career in the United States Air Force where he served as a Security Policeman at FE Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, WY. Following his military experience, he obtained his BS degree in Finance from Colorado State University in 2001. He held various finance positions with increasing responsibilities at Lehman Brothers and Xcel Energy prior to obtaining his MBA in Finance in 2009 from the University of Colorado – Denver. Post MBA, Mr. Sloan joined Bank of Montreal as an Equity Research Associate covering over 20 oil & gas exploration and production companies.

In 2012, Mr. Sloan joined QEP Resources, Inc (previously traded under NYSE: QEP) in their investor relations department and was integral in its initial public offering of QEP Midstream Partners (previously traded under NYSE: QEPM) and later sold to Tesoro Logistics in 2014, along with several other midstream assets, for a combined value of $2.5 billion.

During his tenure at QEP, he managed several capital markets transactions to include debt and equity issuances, credit facility syndications, strategic alternatives reviews, divestitures of non-core assets, and ultimately the sale of the company to Diamondback Resources (NASDAQ: FANG) in 2021. Other responsibilities included managing various departments including financial planning and analysis, credit, insurance, and commodity risk.

In 2021, Mr. Sloan founded Copper Canyon Consulting, LLC and has provided consulting services on commodity risk management, credit facility and debt issuance, asset divestitures, and asset cash flow valuations for several public and private companies.
